They are laughable. Even with all the hype gold demand is only up 4% by weight over the year.

Buxom blonde Jodie March is a good parallel to the ETFs. Hair dyed. Nose job. Boobs enlarged possibly - mmmm probably. It all looks great - eye liner, make-up but waking up in the morning with a hangover next to all that surgery could be less than what you anticipated.

And she happened to star in a movie called Daylight Robbery which seems highly appropriate.

Mind you I wouldn't throw her out of bed I'm sure. But that's the point. These stories put out in the media about the ETFs are so seductive. At some point peope will wake up and get a shock.

I'm sure Jodie's a very nice lady by the way. I've never met her of course. I'd certainly like to look at some more pictures. Sense ought to stop me there!Tapestryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17267094484651413428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30136383.post-84764192827818444692009-02-19T19:17:00.000+00:002009-02-19T19:17:00.000+00:00Hi,I think this might help. If you read it very carefully, it looks VERY BAD for GLD (to me).

http://seekingalpha.com/article/121456-is-the-gld-etf-really-worth-its-metal?source=article_lb_articles

I am a lawyer and the careful, weasel language used in the GLD prospectus makes me very suspicious.

I could be wrong, of course, but this seems to be a VERY BIG ISSUE you have revealed.

I remember Markopolos said he feared for his life...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30136383.post-47060392117232579852009-02-19T18:58:00.000+00:002009-02-19T18:58:00.000+00:00HiThanks for the link. I had already read that before I posted to you and it seems that AGAIN you're on to something.

(It took me a while to understand the point of the buxom blond's picture and, at first, I thought the link was messed up!)

I simply can't find any significant information or discussion on this issue on the web.

It seems the SEC should be looking into this question but they are so worthless they won't do it.

I suspect the only reason they raided R. Allen Stanford yesterday was because Markopolos embarrassed them so badly recently. He was probably the tipster.

It is largely because of this stunning ineptness by regulators that I am VERY suspicious of GLD's claims.

I have no idea how to get someone in power to look into this. It's hard to believe that you and I are the only people on the planet who are concerned...

I don't even own any GLD! I'm just very suspicious of all this stuff nowadays.

It seems VERY likely to me that the gold simply doesn't exist and everyone is just whistling past the graveyard as they did with the housing debacle, Madoff, Stanford, etc., etc.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30136383.post-73664572034915290422009-02-19T16:30:00.000+00:002009-02-19T16:30:00.000+00:00Thanks Nostradamus. See HERE.

South African Gold ETF mysteriously claims to be moving its tonnages from a refinery in SA to Brinks, a London shipper. Neither location seems ideal to secure multi-billion stock risk.

And Nadler of kitco.com wonders why so few contracts were actually delivered last month (3000) compared to the huge number of futures contracts with open interest (360,000).Tapestryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17267094484651413428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30136383.post-20470074271747866612009-02-19T15:11:00.000+00:002009-02-19T15:11:00.000+00:00GLD SCAMI think you're on to something here and I ...GLD SCAM

I think you're on to something here and I can't find any other good information on this question on the web.

It's as if everyone is either being duped on the issue you raised (physical possession of gold) or they simply don't care because they see GLD as a speculative investment rather than a safe harbor in the event of complete financial collapse.

However, if it were revealed that GLD does NOT hold the physical gold they claim, then the ETF would collapse (as you say) and all the holders would be wiped out.

Do you have any other information on this issue? Is there a Markopolos type person out there who is calling b.s. on GLD that you know of?

Or, is there a former employee or regulator, etc. who has spoken out?

Thanks for a great post!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
